The UGM Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UGM) is the first business school in Indonesia to receive international accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the oldest business school accreditation agency in the world based in the United States, on May 12, 2014.
Nationally, it has been accredited as “Excellent” by the Institute of Accreditation for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting Programs (LAMEMBA).
FEB UGM offers three programs for the regular undergraduate program and the International Undergraduate Program (IUP): Management, Accounting, and Economics.
Each program has a high selectivity rate for new student admissions every year. For example, in 2023, the selectivity rate for the Management program was 1:43, meaning only one applicant was accepted out of every 43 applicants. The selectivity ratio for the Accounting program was 1:33, and the Economics program had a selectivity ratio of 1:24.
So, what will you study in the Accounting program? This program provides an understanding of accounting theory, concepts, and principles. It prepares students with the skills to perform and analyze financial reports, audits, and management control systems.
In the Economics program, students will gain an understanding of macroeconomic and microeconomic theories to solve economic problems. Additionally, this program equips students with specialized knowledge in development economics, business economics, monetary economics, public economics, and international economics.
Meanwhile, in the Management program, students will study theories, case studies, and applications in finance, marketing, operations, and strategic and human resource management.
Dean of FEB UGM, Professor Didi Achjari, stated that these programs allow students to acquire theories, concepts, and case studies in accounting, economics, and management.
“We develop teaching innovations such as case-based learning, project-based learning, and experiential learning so that graduates can achieve competencies that meet the needs of the job market,” he said on Thursday (Apr. 25).
Professor Achjari mentioned that FEB UGM continues to develop integrated education and learning processes both inside and outside the classroom to produce graduates who will be future leaders. The program also fosters soft skills development, career preparation, and student wellness facilities.
“FEB UGM is also adjusting the curriculum to ensure its relevance to societal contributions and the needs of the business and industrial world. One of the adjustments includes adding technology and information systems aspects to the curriculum and incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) aspects into several courses,” explained Professor Achjari.
Khansa Mahira Najla (20), an Economics student at FEB UGM, shared that studying at FEB UGM has been one of her biggest dreams. She worked hard to achieve this dream.
After graduating from high school, she took the entrance exam for UGM, her first choice being FEB UGM. Unfortunately, she was initially accepted into her second choice major outside UGM.
While pursuing her studies in her second year, she tried her luck again and took the entrance exam for UGM, which was the same choice as FEB UGM. Her efforts paid off, and Najla was finally accepted into the Economics program at FEB UGM.
“I’ve always loved studying economics, so I’m thrilled to be at FEB UGM. The facilities here are excellent, and the supportive environment motivates me to study hard,” said the student from the 2022 cohort.
