UGM received a visit from the Regent of Penajam North Paser, East Kalimantan Province, on Friday, September 1.
The regent, H. Hamdam, stated that this visit to UGM aimed to coordinate efforts to develop the region’s potential previously agreed upon by UGM through the UGM Vocational College.
The agreed-upon cooperation includes adaptation and mitigation efforts related to climate change, including a request for UGM experts to provide training and education to assemble rainwater harvesting tools.
Additionally, there’s an emphasis on strengthening community institutions through capacity-building activities for villages and climate villages.
“We thank UGM for receiving us warmly. With the Vocational College, we have engaged in several collaborations, such as training on drone operation and support for the climate village program in 12 villages,” the regent explained.
Director of Community Service, Dr. Rustamadji, MD, stated that UGM is always ready to cooperate in advancing regional development, including the communities around Nusantara.
In its implementation, UGM prioritizes collaboration with partners, including local universities and governments, for community service activities and research.
During the meeting, the Director of Partnership and Global Relations, Professor Puji Astuti, Deputy Dean for Cooperation and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Wiryatna, and several UGM leaders were present.
