UGM has brought home 15 medals from the National Olympiad in Mathematics and Natural Sciences (ON MIPA) held from June 13th to 17th, 2023, at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Sindung Tjahyadi, announced that UGM won in mathematics, biology, physics, and chemistry. The 15 medals include three gold, two silver, six bronze, and four honorable mentions.
“UGM secured 15 medals, and this places UGM as the 2nd overall champion after ITB, which won 16 medals,” he said on Saturday (17/6).
Dr. Tjahyadi stated that this achievement is a source of pride for UGM. The accomplishment results from the students’ hard work, the guidance of the coaching lecturers and mentors, and the support and facilitation from the faculty and university leaders.
“Congratulations to the UGM ON MIPA team. We highly appreciate the mentors of the four fields and the Subdirectorate of Creativity, who facilitated and accompanied the students from selection and training to the day of competition,” Dr. Tjahyadi added.
“Achieving 2nd overall champion is an improvement from last year, and hopefully, we can continue to build synergy for a more successful future.”
In this year’s ON MIPA, UGM sent 17 students to compete in four fields, and 15 contributed medals to the university.
