The Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, received a visit from the management of PT Bank BRI (Persero) Tbk at the UGM Central Building on Wednesday (Apr. 17).
This working visit is part of the effort to discuss increasing collaboration opportunities between the two parties.
Both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in banking services for UGM students’ tuition fee payments.
UGM students can process tuition fee payments through the BRImo application, making it easier for students, especially those in various regions of Indonesia. The meeting also discussed plans for developing a Guest Center for UGM visitors.
Rector Ova Emilia mentioned that this collaboration is not only limited to banking services but also involves cooperation in community empowerment.
One form of cooperation will be a waste management program funded by PT Bank BRI’s CSR fund involving UGM’s Community Service Program (KKN-PPM).
“We hope this collaboration will benefit UGM students, BRI, and the general public,” she said.
Previously, added Ova, UGM, and PT Bank BRI (Persero) Tbk also held a soft launch of a café on the UGM campus.
This café is a commitment from both parties to enhance public intelligence, use campus areas to support entrepreneurial education and develop innovative works for the nation’s youth.
The Regional CEO of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Yogyakarta, John Sarjono, stated that UGM and PT Bank BRI (Persero) Tbk have long-standing collaboration in education, research, community service, and banking services.
Discussions with the rector led to their agreement to support the development of the Guest Center. The goal is for the Guest Center to serve as a place for the UGM community to receive visitors.
“This place will be designed with an authentic theme so visitors can understand the history of UGM,” said Sarjono.
During the occasion, Sarjono expressed that this collaboration aims to expand banking services for the entire UGM academic community, including students and faculty.
He mentioned that BRI can provide for the needs of the UGM academic community for conventional transactions and investments through its subsidiaries, such as PT Danareksa (Persero).
