Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again showcased its excellence in public relations by clinching awards at The 9th Public Relation Indonesia Awards (PRIA) 2024, held on Thursday (Mar. 7) in Denpasar, Bali.
This year, UGM proudly secured the Silver Winner accolade in the Community Based Development Subcategory (CSR Communication Program Category) with its project titled “Empowering the Community through Utilization of Local Commodities (Dragon Fruit) in Banyuwangi Regency to Address Stunting.”
Additionally, UGM received the Bronze Winner award in the TikTok Social Media Subcategory (Digital Channel Category).
Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, the University Secretary, expressed gratitude for these prestigious awards, highlighting how they serve as a testament to the dedication and hard work of UGM’s public relations team.
He emphasized that these accolades would inspire the team to continue promoting UGM’s diverse activities, achievements, research, and community service initiatives.
“We are truly honored to receive these awards once again, showcasing UGM’s commitment to excellence in public relations,” he remarked on Friday (Mar. 8).
Dr. Tonralipu acknowledged the dynamic landscape and challenges in the public relations realm, underscoring the importance of strategic planning and evaluating the impact of every UGM public relations team initiative.
He reiterated UGM’s unwavering commitment to uphold the three pillars of higher education (education, research, and community service) while actively contributing to attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This commitment is echoed in every public relations endeavor, characterized by seamless collaboration across units and strong cooperation with the entire UGM community.
“In this era of digitalization, UGM remains steadfast in leveraging various media platforms to amplify our publications nationally and internationally,” he added.
PRIA serves as a platform to recognize and honor outstanding public relations performances across corporations, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), government ministries, agencies, local governments, and universities in Indonesia.
This year’s event, themed “Communication that Inspires Civilization,” witnessed the participation of 219 corporations and government institutions at regional and national levels, comprising 629 entries.
The rigorous judging process, which took place from Jan. 23 to Jan. 26, 2024, involved 16 jurors from public relations, journalism, and academic backgrounds. The jurors meticulously evaluated communication strategies and program effectiveness across various categories in PRIA 2024.
