Enhancing workforce competencies aligned with industry demands is a topic of widespread discussion today. As a leading academic institution, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) actively supports diverse training programs tailored for the workforce.
In this vein, the Global Edukasi Talenta Inkubator (GeTI) partnered with the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences to conduct training and professional certification on Friday (Feb. 23).
“I extend my gratitude to UGM for endorsing this initiative. While the process revolves around training and examinations, the overarching goal is to usher participants into an era where the journey toward becoming an industrial player accelerates,” remarked Divera Wicaksono, the Academic, Incubation, & Business Director of GeTI.
“Whether aspiring to be entrepreneurs, starting from small ventures to larger enterprises, the possibilities lie within our grasp.”
According to Wicaksono, the digital era has ushered in many new job opportunities for individuals. The contemporary work landscape transcends the confines of a single institution, time, or place, offering flexibility in location and working hours.
However, this abundance of opportunity doesn’t necessarily equate to optimal workforce utilization due to the absence of standardized competency benchmarks.
GeTI, operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Manpower, is dedicated to assisting workers in attaining the Badan Nasional Sertifikasi Profesi (BNSP/National Professional Certification Agency) standard certification.
Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, the Dean of the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, echoed his support for the collaboration.
“This partnership stemmed from acknowledging the prevailing gap in understanding current industry requisites. Thus, this training serves as a solution addressing the intricacies of the market system,” the dean shared.
“We hope this program persists, continually producing adept workers attuned to industry demands. I concur that fostering genuine entrepreneurship should be our next objective post-certification.”
Participants underwent preparatory guidance from GeTI mentors before undertaking the certification exam on Feb. 24-25, 2024. The core focus of the training was digital marketing, aimed at nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit.
Moreover, the curriculum aimed to enhance digital competencies among entrepreneurs and SME stakeholders to bolster business development.
Participants hailed not only from students but also from lecturers and non-teaching staff across various UGM faculties, including the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Animal Sciences, and Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.
“We are delighted to collaborate with GeTI and extend this opportunity to other faculties. This comprehensive partnership serves not only to benefit participants but also to bolster MSME growth, support national enterprises, and ultimately, drive the national economy forward,” affirmed Dean Mas’udi.
Dr. Suryono, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, echoed similar sentiments. While the medical profession maintains its distinct educational and certification trajectory, digital entrepreneurship skills are essential for students to cultivate.
“We inhabit an era where digital prowess holds paramount importance for all. This opportunity is poised to give students a robust foundation to navigate the professional landscape post-UGM graduation,” expressed Dr. Suryono.
The collaboration in delivering digital marketing training and BNSP certification embodies the pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 17, emphasizing partnerships for goal achievement.
This endeavor underscores UGM’s commitment to SDG implementation, with hopes that interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration will drive strategic initiatives addressing societal challenges.
