The UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences is once again launching the Research, Publication, and Community Service Grants.
This annual activity aims to foster competition and encourage the development of innovative research to tackle various social challenges.
These grants are open to lecturers, researchers, and students of the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, individually and in groups.
The emphasis is on collaboration across departments, research centers, student involvement, and partnerships with external organizations to enhance the quality of research outcomes.
Dean of the UGM Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, highlighted that the focus of the 2024 grants is on publication, partnerships, and flagship themes, with an emphasis on enhancing research publication and forging partnerships with institutions at home and abroad, particularly those engaged in higher education, advocacy, and governance.
The flagship themes for the 2024 grants include climate change and energy transition, digital transformation, and social inclusion.
“In addition, themes related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are also given due consideration,” he remarked on Monday (Feb. 5).
The grant schemes to support research publication and partnership objectives include funding for academic writing assistance for lecturers, proofreading support (language correction) for international publications, and publication incentive grants.
Additionally, collaborative international research and triple helix grants for lecturers and researchers, individual grants for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, funding for preparing Student Creativity Week (PKM), support for proposal development for grant applications/seed funding, and initiatives for addressing strategic issues are also available.
“Regarding funding and execution, the 2024 grants allocate resources from the Annual Work and Budget Plan (RKAT) and other transparent funding sources,” he added.
This initiative will span ten months, from Feb. 5 to Nov. 15, 2024. It commences with the launch of the grant competition and concludes with Research Days, during which grant recipients will showcase their accomplishments to the public.
