The Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas (GIK, or Innovation and Creativity Center) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) will host a free online course titled “Talent Development” for UGM students, non-UGM students, and the general public.
There are 16 available courses, which mentors from various renowned industries in Indonesia will conduct.
“This course aims to explore students’ potential by enhancing hard and soft skills, providing inspiration, exposure, and guidance in building a meaningful career, and facilitating industry exposure by super mentors,” explained Khansa Khalisa, the GIK Project Leader for Education, Innovation, and Partnerships.
She further explained that students can take a psychological test that reveals their interests and talents, which will then provide recommendations for suitable elective courses. Subsequently, students can register for 12 of the 16 available course sessions.
In addition to gaining valuable knowledge, students will be guided in developing a life plan as part of their final project during the course. This will help students choose the right career in a competitive job market.
“What’s even more interesting is that GIK’s course program will be directly integrated with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Freedom to Learn, Independent Campus) program,” added Khalisa.
“Participants will also receive certificates recognized by industries and can be converted into credits at their respective campuses.”
GIK is Southeast Asia’s largest learning and innovation center, aiming to embrace students and the community. It’s not just a place for learning; GIK is a platform that nurtures creativity, sparks innovation, and cultivates a culture of excellence.
The development of GIK reflects UGM’s strong commitment to leading various educational paths to address future challenges related to technological advancements and the need to improve the quality of human resources.
Furthermore, GIK is a platform to build meaningful relationships between universities, the government, and the industrial sector.
