The Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, received a visit from the President Director of Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Darmawan Prasodjo, on Thursday (22/6).
The visit was attended by the PLN management team; UGM Vice-Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems, Dr. Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho; Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Professor Didi Achjari, and Director of Partnerships, Alumni, and Global Initiatives, Professor Puji Astuti.
The UGM Rector welcomed the visit of the PLN leadership team to UGM. Besides discussing national development issues, both parties agreed on the need to contribute further to identifying energy sources in Indonesia for development.
During this visit, the PLN’s President Director had the opportunity to see the atmosphere of the UGM campus. He said that his party is committed to assisting UGM in efforts to organize and improve the campus environment.
“Thank you to the President Director for being here, especially in supporting and assisting UGM in the arrangement of the campus environment. Thank you for organizing the messy cables and burying them underground. This certainly makes UGM more orderly and beautiful,” the rector said.
Darmawan Prasodjo expressed his joy in visiting UGM. Together with his team, they aim to revitalize the existing electrical system at UGM.
“We have seen that the cables in the campus area are a bit messy, so based on our discussion, we will organize the cables that were previously hanging in the air. We will bury them underground to make it neat,” Prasodjo said.
In addition to electrical cables, during their visit, PLN also offered to organize the numerous fiber optic cables. They inspected and maintained the electrical substations at Gejayan, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Sardjito General Hospital.
“We will also organize and bury the telecommunication cables underground to enhance the tidiness of the campus environment,” he added.
Prasodjo mentioned that he and the UGM Rector discussed Innovation Project Management (IPM) at UGM. Through IPM, he stated that PLN is ready to assist, and currently, they are undergoing an energy transition and have invested significantly in this regard.
PLN and UGM have had a long-standing collaboration, primarily in knowledge sharing and the exchange of experts. This collaboration has been ongoing for a long time and has been highly productive.
“The collaboration so far has been in individual forms. As Professor Emilia mentioned the IPM, I think this can be consolidated and become a great mission for us so that various disciplines can join in a broader collaboration,” he explained.
