PT Inspirasien Srikandi (Inspirasien), a pioneering medical technology startup from Indonesia, has secured a spot among the top 10 finalists in the HK Tech 300 Southeast Asia Startup Competition.
The competition began in May 2023 and saw participation from over 100 startups across seven Southeast Asian countries and Hong Kong.
Inspirasien, an innovative venture from the UGM Innovative Academy (IA UGM) under the Directorate of Business Development, has garnered accolades for its advanced innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, driving rapid development in the tech industry in Southeast Asia.
Astriani Dwi Aryaningtyas, the founder of Inspirasien, expressed that participating in this regional competition has enriched the Inspirasien team’s experience, allowing them to connect with various startups specializing in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and health technology.
“This competition provides a valuable opportunity for young entrepreneurs like us to explore the dynamic market in Hong Kong and establish meaningful relationships with potential investors and partners,” said Aryaningtyas in a statement to the press on Wednesday (Apr. 24).
Aryaningtyas expressed immense joy and gratitude that a startup from Indonesia, particularly one nurtured by a university, could enter the top 10. She hopes for substantial support from partners to continue advancing their health tech endeavors.
“We hope to continuously receive support to innovate in health tech and reach more patients. We remain enthusiastic about our mission and aim to embrace many more patients through our startup,” she explained.
She also acknowledged the support from the IA UGM for providing guidance and backing to help them grow and benefit society through healthcare.
“Thanks to the support from all relevant stakeholders, especially IA UGM, Inspirasien has been able to participate in the CityU HK Tech 300 Southeast Asia Startup Competition and be selected as one of the top 10 teams,” she said.
Dr. Hargo Utomo, Director of Business Development, stated that Inspirasien Srikandi has established itself as a comprehensive platform offering medical information and meeting the evolving needs in the health sector.
“Inspirasien’s success is tangible proof of the positive impact in fostering cross-border innovative business growth,” Dr. Utomo said.
“This recognition not only strengthens the startup’s commitment to revolutionizing healthcare accessibility but also positions Indonesia as a hub of innovative technology development in the region.”
The City University of Hong Kong initiated the HK Tech 300 SEA competition, launched in May 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The competition is held in collaboration with incubators from Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Malaysia, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in Brunei, and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
At the end of the program, at least ten main winners will be chosen, each receiving a development grant worth 1 million Hong Kong dollars.
