More than 60 selected participants attended the UMKM Class Series organized by the UGM Directorate of Community Service UGM (DPkM UGM) on Apr. 23-24, 2024, held in the DPkM Meeting Room.
Dr. Rustamaji, Director of Community Service, expressed his appreciation to the MSME entrepreneurs who continue to develop their businesses despite the challenging economic conditions.
“This UMKM Class Series training organized by UGM through DPkM is an effort to enhance resilience and support sustainable economic growth for MSME entrepreneurs,” he explained.
In addition to gaining insights and knowledge from the speakers, participants had the opportunity to share their experiences in maintaining their developed products during the UMKM Class.
The first series of the UMKM Class focused on business planning with the business model canvas (BMC) and financial governance.
The speakers included Dhimas Noviar Ambara, Founder of PT Sujud Global Media, and Muhammad Yogi Ramadhan, Founder of PT Kala Kreatif Indonesia.
Dhimas Noviar Ambara discussed the Business Model Canvas, explaining, “BMC is a tool we can use to map out our business plan, considering various aspects such as value proposition and customer segment in a visual format.”
He elaborated on how business owners can divide essential elements into clear focus areas and provided tips to make business planning easier.
Besides business planning, financial governance is crucial for business development, as discussed by Yogi Ramadhan. Ramadhan emphasized that proper financial record-keeping is vital to support business operations.
The second series of the UMKM Class focused on product processing, quality control, and packaging to increase consumer trust and food safety assurance.
Dr. Rachma Wikandari shared her expertise in processing food products that meet safety standards.
Nandaroose Rucky Prasetyaning Galih, from the National Standardization Agency (BSN), discussed quality control during production to maintain consistency and safety by applying SNI standards. Dr. Arima Diah Setiowati provided insights on selecting and packaging food products.
Siti Aisyah from UMKM Bijimari (Bantul) shared her impressions after attending the UMKM Class series, “The material was fascinating, expanding our mindset that small business entrepreneurs need to update their knowledge to broaden their understanding continually,” she said.
Tonni Candra from the Inspira Indonesia MSME Community also expressed gratitude to DPkM, “We thank DPkM for organizing this very beneficial UMKM Class Series, which supports our desire for knowledge to upgrade MSME skills and management. We hope this class will continue with more intensive technical guidance,” he added.
Amin Susiatmojo, Head of the UGM Community Empowerment Sub-Directorate, also hoped that the connections made during these class series would continue growing and the knowledge gained would be disseminated.
“After this meeting, we hope that MSMEs can connect more, and DPkM UGM will facilitate the improvement of affiliated MSMEs to become more distinguished and empowered,” he concluded.
