Geophysics Study Program (PSG) that was established since 1985 (after previously a preferential study path in Physics Study Program in 1974), is one of the study programs that prepares bachelor study graduates in the field of geology.

Graduate Competencies

Our graduates have the following outstanding features.

  1. Able to apply basic sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry) in order to understand the earth science, i.e. geology, geodesy, geography, and geochemistry in order to obtain benefits for the lives and safety of the people
  2. Able to apply geophysical methods in terms of designs and data acquisitions, processing, and interpretations
  3. Able to manage and carry out the above activities with the help of geophysical computing
  4. Have positive attitudes that include being obedient to and committing to upholding norms, value structures, moral values, religion, general ethics and professional ethics; are adaptive i.e. can adjust quickly in their work environment and make their best efforts in every task; and able to maintain and enhance their competence.

Career Prospects

Our graduates have the capacity to work in government institutions, BUMN (state-owned enterprises), research institutions, gas/oil mining industry, various companies in the fields of data processing software for mining and petroleum, and as entrepreneurs.

Our graduates can occupy various positions including geophysical survey designers, managers, executive staff, quality assurers of geophysical data measurement and collection, geophysical data processor and analyzer, geophysical data modeling executors and interpreters, researchers, developers, and educators in the field of geophysics, executors of natural resource exploration based on geophysical methods, implementers of disaster risk reduction based on geophysical science, implementers of geophysical-based environmental preservation, geophysical consultants, geophysical entrepreneurs, and lifelong learners in geophysical science.

Facilities

Our study program is equipped with measurement equipment in the laboratory and as geophysical field equipment, data positioning equipment, a basic computer laboratory, and several workstations.
