UGM will start the construction of east ring road soon to provide better facilities for UGM academic community and surrounding communities. The local people are involved in discussions to give input to the construction plans, starting since 28 March 2016. Three meetings were held, attended by Vice-Rector for Human Resource and Assetts, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Santoso Wignyosukarto, Dip.HE., UGM Director for Assetts, Prof. Ir. Henricus Priyosulistyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Director for Planning and Development, Muhammad Sulaiman, S.T., M.T., D.Eng., also chiefs of Karangmalang, Depok, Sagan, and Catur Tunggal areas, local police office of Depok and Bulaksumur areas as well as other community leaders.
Henricus Priyosulistyo presented the plans on timing, construction process, and widening of east ring road, repair on Jalan Kuningan and drainage facility, as well as explanation on the Sultan Ground status. According to Priyo, the work is a grant from Public Works and Housing Ministry after a bid done in June 2016.
Sulaeman further explained the drainage system that has been evaluated on Kuningan area whether to be included in the Ministry’s or UGM’s work.
During those meetings, the local residents and local governments gave their support to the project, further proposing their recommendations, for example that the work should start from Faculty of Animal Sciences in order that traffic on the streets nearby would not be disrupted. The local police office of Bulaksumur also recommended traffic arrangement to be made during the project construction
