Faculty of Animal Science of Universitas Gadjah Mada began the series of 42th Anniversary commemoration by implementing the Opening event on Wednesday (21/9) with the theme “Faculty of Animal Science as a Driving Force of Populists Economics". The Anniversary is opened with various events, among others, aerobics, fun walk, the soft opening of mini market, karaoke competition, and fishing competition. Lecturers, staff, students, representatives of the central building and sponsors helped to liven up the event.
One of the interesting events in the Anniversary opening is the Mini Market soft opening at Faculty of Animal Science. According to Ir. Edi Suryanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Business Development, mini market is an entrepreneurship laboratory for members of academic community, especially students to develop entrepreneurial spirit and skills.
The Mini Market sells a variety of farm products, such as chicken, beef, ice cream, and processed products, such as shredded meat, salted eggs, milk soap, sausages and mushrooms. These products come from business units in the Faculty of Animal Science, such as Gama Abattoir (chicken butchery or other poultry unit), Gama Myosin, Dairy Livestock (gamma milk), students, entrepreneurs, alumni of the Faculty of Animal Science and businesses within the university environment.
Vice Rector for Alumni and Business Development, Prof. Ir. Atyanto Dharoko, M. Phil., Ph.D., who also attended the event welcomed the establishment of the mini market. With the mini market, various business units have been present in UGM, such as car repair shop in the Faculty of Engineering and Healthy House in the Faculty of Pharmacy. Prof. Atyanto Dharoko, M. Phil, Ph.D. conducts the soft opening symbolically by cutting the ribbon.
In addition, the launching of Gallusia magazine and the soft opening of Gadjah Mada Equestrian Center also enlivened the current anniversary. Karaoke competition, followed by faculty, staff, and students received a very enthusiastic response, lasting until noon. After the opening, a series of other events were held, namely the training of biogas and organic fertilizer production as well as national seminars in the upcoming October and November. For the pinnacle of the Anniversary event that will be held on November 10th, Dean of Faculty of Animal Science will deliver the Annual Report.
