According to the Circular Letter No. 1606 / UN1.P / HKL / TR / 2020 issued by Chancellor on March 16, 2020, UGM provides more convenient and affordable access to online learning resources for its academic community to support Work/Study from Home (WfH/SfH) appeal. Universitas Gadjah Mada will provide communication costs in the sort of pulses/data packages to lecturers and students whose rates ranged from Rp 100,000 to Rp 200,000 every month during the implementation of WfH/SfH.
Meanwhile, to support SfH students, credit assistance/internet data can be given to students in each faculty/school with a minimum amount of Rp 50,000 and a maximum of Rp150,000 per student per month.
“The assistance of communication costs to the UGM academic community is a form of support during WfH / SfH,” said Vice Chancellor for Planning, Finance, and Information Systems, Dr. Supriyadi, M.Sc., Ak., on Tuesday (7/4).
In addition to providing communication costs, UGM also participates with several major operators in the country. Director of the Directorate of Information Systems and Resources (DSSDI), Widyawan, Ph.D., explained the large cellular operators, namely Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo, and XL. Telkomsel provides an Ilmupedia package of 30 GB, which is valid for 30 days from being activated to access online learning sites provided by Universitas Gadjah Mada, namely eLisa (https://elisa.ugm.ac.id) and eLok (https: //elok .ugm.ac.id).
Similar to Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo provides a Home Study data package of 30 GB, which is valid for 30 days from being activated for free. The data package from Indosat Ooredoo can also be used to access learning sites provided by Universitas Gadjah Mada. Packages from Telkomsel and Indosat Ooredoo to support WfH/SfH are available until 30 April 2020. Moreover, Telkomsel and Indosat Ooredoo will provide data packages at discount prices in May 2020.
On the other hands, XL provides a quota of 2 GB per day, which is valid for one week since it is activated, which can be used to access Cisco Webex video conferencing facilities (https://ugm-spark.webex.com) and Microsoft 365 (https: // 365 .ugm.ac.id) for collaboration and online learning. The data package from XL with a quota of 2 GB per day is provided until April 14, 2020.
Widyawan explained that in addition to cooperating with cellular operators, Universitas Gadjah Mada also provided a VPN (Virtual Private Network) facility to all academic community members to be able to access resources covered by Universitas Gadjah Mada network. This facility is essential, primarily to facilitate access to electronic documents or applications that can only be opened in the Universitas Gadjah Mada network without having to be at UGM.
“To be able to use VPN facilities provided through the Directorate of Information Systems and Systems, the academic community can follow the guidelines that are available,” said Widyawan.
