Ukur Tinggi dan Berat Badan Lebih Praktis Dengan Nutrisomatic

To know human Body Mass Index by measuring one’s weight and height is important to understand the obesity screening and health risks. This is, however, rarely done by medical practitioners on patients as measuring them is still done manually. But the Nutrisomatic Fx  system made by UGM students has made the measuring easier and quicker.

Yasmin Noor Afifah, member of the student team, said on Wednesday (20/8) at UGM that the tool to measure the nutrition status automatically consists of three components, weight sensor to know the weight of the person, camera sensor to process digital image to get the height of the person which is also equipped with face detection, and processing unit to turn the data from the weight sensor and camera sensor into data in the form of BMI that will be shown on the LCD.

“On the LCD, the weight and height of the person as well as the ideal ones will be shown,” said the Faculty of Medicine student.

Yasmin who has developed the tool along with Putri Istiqomah Rizki Hidayatun (Faculty of Medicine), Fredy Aga Nugroho (Faculty of Maths and Natural Sciences), and Azis Fajar Riyadi (Vocational School) said the tool was integrated with computerized medical records. The person will stand on the scales facing the camera, the data will then be processed while the person can see the results on the display.

“This tool can help medical workers understand the nutrition status of the person automatically and efficiently,” she concluded.
