The Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Archery Student Activity Unit (UKM) won six medals at the 2026 Waroeng SS Gladi Panahan #9 and Waroeng SS Gladi Barebow #5 competitions at the Gladian Jayandaru Field in Bantul Regency. Held over seven days from September 21–27, 2026, the competition saw UGM’s Archery bring home six medals, comprising two gold, two silver, and two copper medals.
Hosted by Waroeng SS, this year’s competition returned after a hiatus in 2025. The event featured two competitions: Gladi Panahan #9 (September 21–24) and Gladi Barebow #5 (September 25–27, 2026). In the final medal standings, UGM was the only higher education institution to place in the Top 10.
One notable achievement came from Hira Diwyacitta Heroestyasa of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH UGM). She won two gold medals in the Women’s Compound Elimination and Women’s Compound Qualification Session 1 events. Hira also secured a silver medal in the Women’s Compound Qualification Total Score event.
The U-21 Women’s National Standard Team, represented by Azzahra Nusya Setyaji Putri from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP UGM), Biru Laksita from the Vocational College (SV UGM), and Yulia Dini Putri Kharista from the Faculty of Psychology (Psychology UGM), won another silver medal. In addition, Biru finished fourth in the U-21 Women’s National Standard Elimination event. Hira and Zhorif Zainul Hafizh from the Vocational College also finished fourth in the Mixed Team Compound event.

UGM Archery Chair Emir Muhammad Imran thanked the athletes, coaches, and support team members who worked hard throughout the preparation and competition. He said the athletes’ composure when facing their opponents was one of the positive aspects of the competition.
“Seeing how our teammates competed calmly and confidently in this major championship, I believe their hard work during training paid off. They were not intimidated by strong opponents, including athletes at the national training camp level, and proved that they could compete in this annual event. This result is certainly a valuable evaluation and an encouragement for us to continue improving in the future,” he said Wednesday (October 7).
According to Emir, these results show UGM Archery athletes’ ability to compete in various events, both individually and as teams. The competition also pitted the athletes against opponents with diverse training backgrounds, including those at the national training camp level. This provided valuable competitive experience for athletes to assess their abilities and evaluate the results of their training.
The competition results will then help UGM Archery evaluate and prepare its athletes for upcoming competitions. Developing technical skills, mental readiness, and teamwork remain key aspects of the athletes’ development process.
