Credit gained at UGM is usually transferrable towards your degree at your home university.
Eligibility criteria:
- Completion of at least one full-time year of study at an accredited university
- Current enrolment at an accredited university
- You must be nominated by your home university
- Average to above-average results in university studies to date (for applicants from the USA, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on the 4-point scale is required)
- A suitable standard of English language proficiency.
Achievement of specific course prerequisites.
Cost: You pay tuition fees to your home institution. You will need to pay for associated living costs in Australia.

You can also limit the results to a particular semester by using the ‘Selected semesters’ option
A complete list of courses which include your keyword and/or those offered by the chosen School or Faculty, and which have been pre-approved for Study Abroad students, will be displayed on the screen.
The University’s Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ) also offers short-course mid-year (June to August) study abroad programs in numerous discipline areas.
Can I study on Exchange at UQ?
The University of Queensland has formal agreements with a global network of partner institutions and holds exchange agreements with over 100 of these institutions. Students studying at a partner exchange institution can study at UQ for one or two semesters as an exchange student. Interested students should contact the Exchange Office at their home institution.
International students from non-partner exchange institutions who wish to study at UQ for one or two semesters may apply for the Study Abroad program.
Current UGM students (Local and International) wishing to study on exchange overseas for one or two semester may apply for the UGM Abroad program.
Procedures
- Download and fill in the International student application for Study Abroad or Exchange Program form (PDF) You will need to provide:
An official, original and up-to-date academic record of all university-level studies undertaken to date, showing all courses attempted and completed and the grades received - If from a non-English speaking country, provide evidence of English language proficiency through the IELTS or TOEFL/TWE tests.
A cover letter from the Exchange Office at your home university. - Submit your application directly to your home institution International Exchange Office.
- Your application will be assessed by the International Education Directorate who will inform your Exchange Office of the outcome.
