Industrial Workshop 2018 Industry 4.0 : Reinventing Manufacturing in the Connected World

Major changes that is driven by advances in digital technology in the industry will occur. This transformation, called the fourth industrial revolution will have an impact on the development of the global economy. The combination of physical and virtual worlds in the cyber physical system will have a disruptive effect on every element of manufacturing. The phenomenon of digital transformation is utilized by manufacturing industries to strengthen integral decision making, such as in production scheduling from upstream to downstream and mass customized production that suits the unique needs of each individual who keeps changing and developing. Customization process in the era of Industry 4.0 is also increasingly supported by the 3D printing technology. In addition, by connecting between manufacturing elements, the production process in a factory can be controlled by the operator without the need to be directly on the production floor because production control and supervision activities can be carried out from a distance through the Industrial Internet of Things mechanism. Industrial Workshop is a national workshop organized every year by the Student Association of Industrial Engineering, Gadjah Mada University. This year, the theme Industrial Workshop 2018 Industry 4.0 titled Industry 4.0: Reinventing Manufacturing in the Connected World. The selection of themes and titles is a means for industry observers to better understand the developments taking place in the world of manufacturing in the fourth industrial revolution that will take place in Indonesia.
