What is the background of the conference’s establishment?
Jogja International MUN is one of Universitas Gadjah Mada MUN Community’s methods to proliferate the spirit of MUN and to fight students’ apathy of global problems. The conference is also expected to promote Indonesia and Universitas Gadjah Mada to international communities.
How many editions of JoinMUN have actually been held before?
This would be the second edition of JoinMUN. Nevertheless, you wouldn’t need to put doubt on anything. The Board of Committee has been striving to use their MUN experience to decide on the conference’s theme, agenda, up to venues and socials so that it provides you with the best of an MUN event.
How is JoinMUN different from any other MUN Conference in Indonesia?
The Secretariat is working hard to give the conference an international atmosphere by inviting committee chairmen from all over the world. The conference also draws a heavy influence of European MUN style, particularly TEIMUN. This would mean that almost all of JoinMUN’s committees are small ones (unlike Harvard World MUN or Harvard National). JoinMUN also presents you with a unique Javanese culture integrated in the ceremonies, social events, and to some extent even committee sessions. JoinMUN is currently the only MUN Conference in Indonesia that would also host high school students as journalists. These students would have a duty to report on the progress of the conference under the flag of reputable international newspapers. Committees in JoinMUN would also act as a crisis committee once a crisis breaks in the middle of the conference. The crisis could involve the death of a president, revolution back at home country, bombings, or even kidnapping of a delegate. It is the job of the Secretariat to design how the crisis would take form later in the conference.
The delegates are expected to solve the challenges presented by the predicaments if they are to continue the negotiation on the original topic. This is where the delegates could explore the skill on responding to dynamics and sudden change.
Where and when would the conference take place?
All of the committee sessions would be held in the historic Inna Garuda Hotel, Jogjakarta. The conference itself would commence on May 2 and last until May 5, 2013.
