Facilities in Jogja may appear as your first consideration when you have a plan to visit Jogja or continue your study in University Gadjah Mada. Don’t worry. The city of Yogyakarta (well known as Jogja) is regarded as the student city in Indonesia which offers various facilities for local and global students.
1. UGM Recidences
To provide the environment for the best academic achievement, Universitas Gadjah Mada manages all student dormitory units called Universitas Gadjah Mada Residences (UGMR). This facility provides accommodation for first-year students enrolled at UGM as well as lecturers from other universities or training participants, faculty guests, etc, who are visiting for scientific, artistic and cultural exchanges, or other purposes.
Most of UGM students come from various countries and regions of Indonesia with their respective cultures and local languages. We understand how important it is for them to look for accommodations close to the campus in a safe environment as well as easy access to information and good service and facilities. For this reason, UGMR offers five dormitory units that can accommodate more than 1,500 people, namely: Darmaputera Baciro, Darmaputera Karanggayam, Ratnaningsih Bulaksumur, Ratnaningsih Kinanti, and Ratnaningsih Sagan.
2. Exclusive Dorms
Exclusive Dorms is another option you may pick if you want to live in Jogja for months. Exclusive facilities are available such as Air Conditioner, private bathroom, WiFi, car parking space, security officers, and so on. Usually, exclusive dorms will cost you $80 – $170 per month. If you want to get a cheaper price, you can pay for a year in advance. For those who want to stay just for a few weeks or days, some exclusive dorms also have their daily and weekly price.
3. Regular Dorms
Different from exclusive dorms, the regular ones let you have an option to stay in Jogja with cheaper price. However, the facilities are also limited as there are no air conditioner and WiFi or no car parks while the bathroom is shared. Some of them offer facilities such as a bed, cupboard, and table while the rest only provide unfurnished rooms. Regular dorms may cost you $30 – $55 per month. Although this is more affordable, most do not have daily or weekly price plan.
