Approaching 100 years of Indonesia’s independence in 2045, there are many challenges facing Indonesia to meet its independence goals. This requires responses from Indonesia’s society, including professors, to conduct studies that generate useful knowledge for the nation.
“Cooperation between government and all state elements including professors is very important to reach Golden Indonesia 2045 goals,” said Chairman of Presidential Advisory Council, Prof. Dr. Sri Adiningsih, M.Sc.
She made this statement in a keynote speech during 1st Meeting of Indonesian Professors on Saturday (1/9) in the Senate Hall UGM.
She mentioned that the target of achievement of Golden Indonesia is the goals of independence as stated in the State Guidelines Article 4. The Council studied that Indonesia had many assets and opportunities to meet the goal by 2045 in addition to natural resources, environment, demography bonus, and plurality.
“The plurality of Indonesia and social dynamics can be developed into constructive social energy, and if this is enhanced, this will be a strength,” she said.
In terms of development, there are several important points of focus of attention. These include strengthening the Pancasila ideology and Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia, natural resource for state welfare, and technology and innovation that give added value and competitiveness.
In the meeting, the participating professors discuss efforts to increase their role in making equal development, including in education area. This issue, according to UGM professor, Prof. Drs. Koentjoro,MBSc., Ph.D., is the main focus of the forum.
“One of the programmes needing attention is equal education. We can see that even in Jakarta the gap between universities is too far apart. We will give input to the government to resolve this issue,” he said.
The meeting celebrates the first year of the Forum initiated by UGM. Currently, it has 62 member universities across Indonesia. The professors further endorse their Articles of Association, clustering, and drafting work programme.
