Relations between alumni or between alumni and alma mater is very important to maintain. To do this can be through establishing an organisation of alumni, like what has been done by Alumni of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology department of Faculty of Engineering UGM. They organised a national meeting among the alumni (KATETI UGM 2017) on Saturday (11/11) in Jakarta.
“The alumni meeting is joined by at least 100 alumni from different classes,” said Department Secretary of Electrical and Information Engineering UGM, Hanung Adi Nugroho, Ph.D., in a press release on Friday (17/11).
Chairman of the Department, Sarjiya, Ph.D., said the importance of the event was to build collaboration. Similarly, Chairman of KATGAMA association, Ir. Agus Priyatno, emphasised the importance of link and match between the industry and higher education. Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Nizam, in his remarks delivered the topic on demography bonus in Indonesia that requires strong human resource preparation.
“One of the ways to meet that goal is through the alumni association that can build positive collaborations,” he said.
During the event, the alumni also selected new chairman of KATETI UGM period of 2017-2020, who is Budi Tjahjono, S.T., M.M. The participants expected Budi to be able to run the program in line with the vision, which is to form a solid alumni association that gives benefits to the alumni, almamater, society, and the nation.
