Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still a health problem with high burden in many countries. The global burden of dengue is large with potential for further spread due to globalization of trade, change in travel behaviors and climate change. The infection causes a spectrum of illness, ranging from no symptoms or mild fever to severe and fatal hemorrhage, depending on the patient’s age and immunologic condition. Various efforts has been carried out to address this issue such both in clinical and nonclinical aspect such as strengthening surveillance system as well as improving research activities that later on can be translated into action to deal with dengue infection. To enhance cross-disciplinary collaboration between different backgrounds and experiences related to dengue, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada proposes this international symposium.
The conference will host keynote lectures by noted authorities, plenary sessions and themed symposiums with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations. We encourage participants to submit abstracts focusing on one of these topics: pathophysiology, diagnosis, clinical management, epidemiology, vector biology, ecology, and control, advocacy for social and community commitment, and vaccine development.
Please mark these dates on your busy schedule and start making plans to join us for what we hope will be a milestone of international events in dengue in 2013.
We look forward to welcoming you in Yogyakarta
