The UGM Faculty of Animal Science (Animal Science UGM) deployed 28 students as supervisors and inspectors for sacrificial animals in Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) on Wednesday (Jun. 12). They will be deployed in Yogyakarta City and Bantul from June 16 to 19, 2024.
“There are 15 students in Yogyakarta City and 13 in Bantul Regency,” explained the Head of the Department of Animal Production at Animal Science UGM, Dr. Panjono, during the send-off ceremony for the sacrificial animal inspection team.
According to Dr. Panjono, the deployed students will receive briefings from each regency’s animal husbandry departments.
“So, don’t forget always to uphold the good name of UGM,” said Dr. Panjono.
The Dean of Animal Science UGM, Professor Budi Guntoro, added that the faculty has long received requests for supervisors and inspectors of sacrificial animals. Dean Guntoro mentioned that in the future, the scope of the supervisory and inspection team deployment could be expanded to Central Java and surrounding areas.
“The hope is that this will add to the student’s experience, particularly in supervision and handling before and after slaughter,” hoped the dean.
