To develop the concept of wellness tourism in Yogyakarta, the UGM Academic Hospital (RSA UGM) held a fun bike named Tour de Van Der Wijck. The event took an exciting route from Waduk Sermo, Kulon Progo, to Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort and Spa.
It was held on Saturday (Jun. 15) and started with the release of 100kg of tilapia fish fry at Waduk Sermo, Kulon Progo. This fish release was part of RSA UGM’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
The President Director of RSA UGM, Dr. Darwito, conducted the fish release, along with the Head of the Yogyakarta Tourism Office, the Executive Director of AHS UGM, Dr. Sudadi, and the Operational Director of Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort and Spa, Santi Vita Nurrohmah.
Dr. Darwito stated that the event was organized as a serious effort by RSA UGM to develop the concept of wellness tourism in Yogyakarta. This event aims to strengthen cooperation between RSA UGM and Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort and Spa.
“This activity aims to promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling and support the wellness tourism of the Special Region of Yogyakarta,” he said.
Dr. Darwito mentioned the fish release as a form of RSA UGM’s commitment to environmental conservation. The release of 100 kg of tilapia fish fry is considered a small step that will benefit the ecosystem in Waduk Sermo.
The wellness-focused fun bike event will be held annually. This time, the route follows the Mataram Canal or Van Der Wijck in Yogyakarta, ending at Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort and Spa.
At the finish line, participants were welcomed with medical check-up facilities and Modified Relaxation Therapy, a psychological therapy developed by RSA UGM.
Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort and Spa’s Operational Director, Santi Vita Nurrohmah, said her party feels satisfied collaborating with RSA UGM on this event. Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta is happy and proud to promote wellness tourism in Yogyakarta.
“This certainly provides an enjoyable and beneficial experience for the fun bike participants,” she said.
RSA UGM and Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta hope this event will serve as a starting point for further development of wellness tourism programs and highlight the importance of balancing physical health and environmental conservation.
