Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received four prestigious awards at the Student Creativity Program (PKM) Award held on Monday (Aug. 19).
The PKM Award is an initiative by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) under the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, to recognize the efforts of teams that have participated in the Evaluation of PKM Progress (PKP2).
During the 2024 PKM Award ceremony, held at UPN VJ, UGM won awards in four categories: the First Cluster University with the Most PKM Funding in 2024 with 181 funded teams, the University with the Most Incentives in PKM 2024, and the Most Productive University in PKM 2024.
With the number of funded teams and incentive recipients, UGM was automatically named the Most Productive University in PKM 2024, with 212 groups in total.
The awards for UGM were not limited to the university itself; student teams participating in PKM were also recognized. A team from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research (RSH) scheme, led by Muhammad Nur Maulana, won the Most Creative Student Group title in the RSH scheme.
Their research was titled “Indonesia Economic Democracy Index: An Examination of the Existence of People’s Economy as an Effort to Improve Economic Equity in Yogyakarta City.”
UGM Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni Dr. Arie Sujito expressed his happiness and pride at the awards UGM received, particularly for successfully advancing 181 teams to the PKM funding stage.
“These awards further affirm UGM’s role in the PKM arena. We hope that the teams that have competed in PKM can advance to PIMNAS and win medals, ultimately helping to retain the Adhikarta Kertawidya Trophy,” Dr. Sujito said in a statement to reporters on Tuesday (Aug. 20).
In her remarks at the PKM Award Ceremony, the Director of Belmawa, Professor Sri Suning Kusumawardani, highlighted that PKM is an effort to foster, accommodate, and realize students’ creative and innovative ideas, which has been positively received by universities and students, as reflected in the high number of proposal submissions.
It is well known that student groups that pass the selection process receive funding for the research proposed in their submissions. The process, which takes place from May to August, is followed by the PKM Award to recognize students’ achievements.
The best-evaluated teams will then participate in the most prestigious event of PKM, the National Student Science Week (PIMNAS), which will be hosted by Universitas Airlangga in 2024.
