A Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UGM) Accounting program team won remarkably at the Satya Wacana National Accounting Competition (SNAC) 2024.
This event is hosted by the Accounting Study Group of Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW), Salatiga, Central Java. Team Bil, consisting of Aditya Kurniawan (Accounting 2021), Philip Jakobus Sidabukke (Accounting 2021), and Ripatina Salsabila (Accounting 2021), won first place after defeating four other teams in the grand final held on Jun. 29, 2024.
The Satya Wacana National Accounting Competition (SNAC UKSW) is a national accounting competition that attracts accounting students from various universities across Indonesia.
The competition aims to test each team’s knowledge and auditing skills and encourage students to develop and showcase their auditing abilities through applying audit theories and concepts in real business situations. It also aims to foster a competitive spirit and collaborative skills among participants.
Kurniawan explained that Team Bil’s success was achieved after passing through a rigorous series of competition stages. Initially, all participants had to undergo three stages: preliminary, semifinal, and final rounds over several months.
“In the preliminary round, participants were required to work on a case study about a 4G BTS project from the perspective of either external or internal auditing,” Kurniawan said in a statement sent on Wednesday (Aug. 14).
After passing through stringent selection stages, the five highest-scoring teams advanced to the semifinal. In the semifinal round, participants faced a quiz covering external auditing, internal auditing, information systems, and a knowledge competition that tested each team’s in-depth understanding.
In the final round, the finalists were asked to present a case concerning auditor independence, focusing on situations where external auditors were asked to undertake internal audit engagements.
“In the final round, Team Bil, as the opposing team, demonstrated exceptional analytical understanding and skills, resulting in their first-place win,” he said.
Kurniawan expressed his gratitude for the victory. Team Bil won due to their hard work and teamwork throughout the competition.
“We participated in this competition during our final exams, so we had to manage our time between preparing for SNAC 2024 and studying for exams. Alhamdulillah, we were still allowed to be champions in this competition,” he added.
He hopes their achievement will inspire other students to strive for excellence and develop their skills in accounting. This victory is a tangible example that success can be achieved through hard work and perseverance.
