Likha Sari Anggreni (38) from the Doctoral Program in Communication Science at Fisipol is one of 991 postgraduate students who graduated from Universitas Gadjah Mada in a ceremony held at Graha Sabha Pramana on Wednesday, Jul. 24, 2024.
Likha, as she is commonly known, was one of the first recipients of a doctoral scholarship from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol UGM) and one of 27 doctoral graduates who earned the distinction of graduating cum laude.
When contacted by a reporter, Likha expressed her gratitude for completing her doctoral education at UGM.
“I am grateful to be the first cohort of awardees from the PhD in Communication Science to graduate,” she said.
Pursuing a doctorate was a requirement of her job as a lecturer in Communication Science at Universitas Sebelas Maret.
She hopes that the knowledge she gained will support education and teaching at her university in the future.
“I pursued this PhD because of the requirement that all lecturers will eventually be required to hold at least a doctoral degree,” she explained.
Likha graduated with a GPA of 3.8 and completed her studies in 3 years and four months.
Her dissertation topic was “Communication Identity of Womenpreneurs.”
According to Likha, completing her doctoral education was not easy, especially since she started her studies during the pandemic, during which the first year of learning was online.
“It was only in the second year that I could meet with friends and lecturers in person,” she said.
During her studies, Likha acknowledged that the lecturers and administrative staff in the Communication Science program were incredibly supportive and helpful throughout her academic journey.
After completing her doctoral studies at UGM, Likha plans to return to teaching at UNS. At this moment, she feels immense gratitude for her graduation.
“My debt to the nation, my mother, father, and my husband is paid. I have completed the highest level of formal education,” she said.
