The Bandungan Flower Festival is an annual event that brings joy to flower farmers and entrepreneurs in Bandungan.
Various types of flowers grown in Jetis Village, Bandungan, are among the main commodities in Bandungan, alongside agricultural products.
The festival lasted three days, from July 25 to 28. It featured workshops on crafting with palm leaves, guided by mentors from the Indonesian Flower Arrangement Association (IPBI) of Central Java.
In addition, this event was followed by a UMKM bazaar, folk art performances, a floral fashion show competition, a flower arrangement contest, and culminating in the event’s highlight: the “Jagad Kembang Kumandhang” flower parade.
The Bandungan Flower Festival peak occurred on Sunday (July 28). Under the theme “Jagad Kembang Kumandhang,” the cultural parade and floral float procession were enlivened by the participation of the local community and the UGM KKN-PPM Bandungan team, which was conducting its community service program in the area.
“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with this prestigious annual event in the Bandungan region. Through this flower festival, we as students experience firsthand the importance of participation and collaboration in ensuring the success of a major event,” said Rendra Nandira, the team coordinator, in a statement to reporters on Friday (August 16).
According to Nandira, the Bandungan Flower Festival featured a parade of decorated cars adorned with various cut flowers, joined by hundreds of flower vendors, farmers, and community groups. This year, the parade route passed along the Bandungan-Jetis Highway.
Nandira noted that the event’s success was due to the support of all parties, including local authorities, flower farmers, and the surrounding community.
“We hope this festival not only serves as a platform to celebrate creative works but also strengthens the sense of togetherness and brings positive economic impacts to the local community,” he said.
Positive responses were also received from Bandungan residents, such as Maryoto, who expressed that the flower festival provides entertainment for the community and enhances the promotion of Bandungan’s tourism sector.
“I hope this event continues to improve and positively impacts the community. It’s not just about entertainment but also about educating the public,” Maryoto explained.
