The UGM Faculty of Economics and Business Alumni Family Class of 94 (Kafegama 94) held a reunion at the campus on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024. This reunion marks the 30th anniversary of the alumni’s enrollment at UGM in 1994.
Muhajir, Chair of Kafegama 94 and head of the reunion committee, stated that the reunion aims to strengthen ties among alumni from the class of 1994.
Through this event, alumni reconnect and rekindle memories of their college days 30 years ago.
“This reunion serves as a platform for socializing since some friends only meet again after 30 years. So, it is a place for nostalgia, recalling our college days,” he reminisced.
One hundred twenty-one alumni from three study programs at FEB UGM, from various regions of Indonesia, attended this reunion.
During the reunion, the alumni sought to revive their memories of UGM by walking through the FEB UGM campus to Balairung UGM.
The alumni visited several tourist attractions in Yogyakarta and enjoyed a gala dinner with the leadership of FEB UGM.
The Dean of FEB UGM, Professor Didi Achjari, expressed that the reunion is not only an opportunity to reconnect and reminisce about past experiences during their studies at FEB UGM.
He views the reunion as crucial because alumni are integral to the campus.
“It is a source of pride for us when alumni return upon invitation to the faculty, including during the accreditation process, to provide testimonials for the assessors,” he stated.
Professor Achjari emphasized that alumni also contribute significantly to supporting the development of campus programs.
For example, through mentoring programs, alumni come to campus to provide insights on preparing for the workforce and to give a realistic picture of the professional world.
Professor Achjari also appreciated alumni from various classes who have shown a solid commitment to supporting the academic journeys of younger students.
This support has been demonstrated through various means, including scholarships and laptop donations, to help students, especially those from underprivileged families.
“We greatly appreciate the potential of alumni from Kagama and Kafegama across different classes in caring for the younger students. Faculty programs have received substantial support from Kafegama,” he concluded.
