Galuh Adi Insani guided UGM in the competition organized by the Student Association of the Animal Science Program, Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Jember.
The competition occurred in August 2024, with awards presented on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024.
Dini Romadhoni explained that the competition focused on “Optimizing the Role of the Livestock Sector Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.”
It aims to raise student awareness about the importance of environmentally friendly and sustainable livestock practices while leveraging modern technology.
“The ECA Festival 2024 hosted several competition categories, including essays and posters, to provide a platform for animal science students to develop innovative ideas. Participants were encouraged to explore various aspects of sustainable livestock, from nutrition and animal feed to livestock production technology, socio-economic factors, and technological innovations,” said Romadhoni on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024.
The UGM team presented innovative ideas for developing sustainable livestock systems that optimize the use of digital technology.
Their main focus was on applying AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve livestock production efficiency, monitor animal health, and ensure animal welfare in the face of global challenges such as climate change and increasing food demand.
As a faculty advisor, Galuh Adi Insani provided valuable insights into the importance of innovation in the livestock sector.
He hopes that the digital technology proposed by the team can solve various challenges, including climate change and the rising demand for livestock products.
“This achievement also underscores their commitment to continuously innovate and develop better and more sustainable livestock systems in the future,” he explained.
