The national selection for new student admissions (SNPMB) has been open since the beginning of the year.
The academic excellence-based entrance selection (SNBP) recently closed on Feb. 18. Students will prepare for the next admissions pathways during the selection process.
In addition to SNPMB, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) offers several admissions pathways, including the international undergraduate program (IUP) selection, the talent search for outstanding students (PBUB), the talent search for students from low-income families (PBUBTM), the talent search for students from affirmation and disadvantaged areas, and the computer-based test (CBT) entrance exam.
Prospective students can choose an admission pathway that aligns with their conditions and abilities.
As a national university, UGM is committed to achieving inclusive education. Prospective students need not worry about tuition fees as long as they have good academic abilities.
UGM offers various educational financing schemes through collaborations with the private sector and networks with the Gadjah Mada Alumni Family (Kagama).
“UGM aims for the campus to be part of a comprehensive learning process for students, not just a place for lectures but also a space for student creativity and innovation,” said Dr. Sigit Priyanta, Secretary of UGM’s Directorate of Education and Teaching, on Sunday (Feb. 23).
As for tips and tricks for prospective students in choosing a study program, Dr. Priyanta advises that the selected program should align with their interests and passions to ensure a bright future after graduation.
“It is essential for prospective students to choose a study program that matches their interests, passions, and abilities,” he said.
In addition to interests, talents, and the competition ratio per program, Dr. Priyanta suggests that prospective students consider career prospects and potential for further study development.
UGM provides academic and non-academic facilities and infrastructure to help students maximize their potential.
Collaborations with industry sectors and the government also open opportunities for internships and academic-based projects with partner companies.
“Each study program offers different flexibility and development potential. It’s important for prospective students to consider not only the academic side of a program but also its potential for character and personal development,” Dr. Priyanta explained.
It should be noted that the college entrance selection process no longer separates participants based on their high school majors. UGM has 18 faculties, one vocational school, and 93 study programs.
Academic disciplines are divided into science and technology, social sciences and humanities, medical sciences, and agriculture.
Meanwhile, the capacity of each program differs for each selection pathway. For the SNBP pathway, 30% of the total capacity is allocated.
For the SNBT, it is 30%, and for the independent pathway is 40%.
“Each study program accommodates around 40-200 undergraduate students,” he added.
At the national level, the SNBP pathway received applications from 44,260 eligible students who have finalized their applications.
According to the SNPMB committee’s announcement, the number of students registering for SNBP has increased each year.
Nevertheless, students are encouraged to prepare for the next selection process for SNBT and independent selection at their respective universities.
UGM will gradually provide information about admission pathways for prospective students on its official website and social media. UGM offers students from all over Indonesia the opportunity to apply through various entry pathways.
“The hope is that these pathways will promote equitable access to higher education across all societal levels and create an inclusive campus environment,” Dr. Priyanta concluded.
