One of UGM efforts to the suppress the spread of Covid-19 is through the creation of application called Siaga Mudik. The application developed through collaboration between Central Java Provincial Government, Universitas Gadjah Mada Alumni Family (KAGAMA), as well as lecturers, alumni, and students of UGM Vocational School (SV UGM). The importance of this application is it is useful for tracking the historical journey of Central Java travelers residents to prevent the spread of Covid -19.
“According to data from the Central Java Transportation Agency, the wave of travelers has reached up to 320,435 travelers. Those are the number only for them who use public transportation, and it does not include travelers who use private vehicles. Mudik Alert application facilitates residents who are forced to go home in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Imam Fahrurrozi as Technical Manager.
He said the Central Java Provincial Government required its residents who came from outside the city to complete the Mudik Alert application and perform quarantine for 14 days.
He also explained that this application could record the number of travelers based on the travelers destination location, residential address, and their locations, as well as the health condition of the travelers based on symptoms of illness and the presence or absence of congenital diseases from travelers.
“Later, the presence or absence of medical intervention from the nearest Health Office of the recent travelers also based on the output of information from the Siaga Mudik application,” he added.
The Lecturer in Applied Software Engineering Software Department of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DTEDI) of this Vocational School explained that the development of this application originated from KAGAMA’s request to Vocational Studios and Vocational Techno to make an application in less than one week.
Amid an appeal for Work from Home, the team then conducted online coordination with the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, the Central Java GRMS Team, and the Central Java Kadishub.
“We have to ensure that the application is well-prepared for three to four days, then we can soon do the last touch and officially launch it,” he explained.
The application development team consisted of Abidurrahman Alfaruq and Wahyu Kemal, both alumni, as well as two students, Ilham Karyanto and Adjie Kurniawan. In addition to the team from Vocational Techno, this application was also developed with the team from Vocational Studios SV UGM in working on graphic design, User Interface, and User Experience.
“There is Yusron “Film Tengkorak” from Vocational Studios, Fuadi as Multimedia and Negotiation Manager, as well as Lecturer in Applied Engineering Study Program of DTEDI Software Engineering assisted by our alumni Wahyu Kemal,” he said.
To tighten data collection, the Central Java Provincial Government is also working with the WE Indonesia Community in Jakarta in preparing the Information Management System for Data Collection on travelers through the siagamudik.jatengprov.go.id application.
This simplified system was developed to help track the travel history of everyone who travels so that the government can prepare Central Java’s mobility and take wise steps in responding to the Covid-19 outbreak.
