The UGM Faculty of Animal Science (Animal Science UGM) continues to expand its collaboration network with various industry partners to support the implementation of the university’s three pillars.
One strategic step taken was exploring cooperation with PT Haida Agriculture Indonesia, which took place on Thursday (Mar. 20) at the faculty building.
Haida Agriculture Indonesia is known for its livestock and aquatic feed manufacturing operations.
The Dean of Animal Science UGM, Professor Budi Guntoro, stated that the faculty is open to various forms of collaboration, including student internships, fieldwork (PKL), and the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.
These programs are expected to provide students with direct experience in the livestock industry, better preparing them for the workforce after graduation.
“We invite industry partners to share knowledge, possibly through industrial lecturers,” Professor Guntoro explained.
Yang Jingyong, Senior Manager of PT Haida Agriculture, expressed enthusiasm about the cooperation opportunities for internships and PKL and is ready to serve as a liaison to open collaboration with various universities in China, especially in animal science and agribusiness.
He noted that the collaboration would offer opportunities for students and lecturers to broaden their horizons and deepen their academic and industrial experience on an international level.
“We also collaborate on human resources and with schools or universities, not only in ASEAN but also in Europe and Africa,” Yang added.
This collaboration is expected to further strengthen the synergy between academia and industry, contributing to the development of knowledge, improving student skills, and advancing the livestock sector in general.
Also attending the discussion were the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Romadhoni Surya Putra; Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Dr. Andriyani Astuti; and Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, Professor Yuny Erwanto.
