
The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FK-KMK UGM) remains committed to producing innovative, adaptable, and ethical graduates who excel in the fields of medicine and health. To achieve this, the faculty is working to increase the number of graduate students.
“By the end of 2024, graduate, specialist, and subspecialist students accounted for 54.30% of the total 6,054 active students,” said FK-KMK UGM Dean, Professor Yodi Mahendradhata, during his Dean’s Report at the 79th Dies Natalis Open Senate Meeting, themed “Fostering Synergy in Overseeing Transformation,” held at the FK-KMK UGM Auditorium on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Educational development programs launched in 2024 include fast-track, double degree, joint degree, and the Master’s to Doctoral Pathway for Outstanding Graduates (PMDSU).
The fast-track program, initiated in 2024, enables medical students to continue to the Master of Biomedical Sciences and Master of Public Health programs, with 15 students currently participating.
Professor Mahendradhata emphasized that 2024 was a year of achievement for FK-KMK UGM.
In the area of education, the faculty received recognition from the Ministry of Health for deploying residents to Remote, Border, and Island Areas.
In addition, three study programs received international accreditation, enhancing academic competitiveness.
Student diversity also showed a positive trend, with increased enrollment from various backgrounds. FK-KMK UGM is further expanding its educational reach by supporting the medical education program at Borneo Tarakan.
Regarding faculty development, Professor Mahendradhata reported that FK-KMK UGM currently has 683 lecturers, with 47.7% holding doctoral degrees.
In research, the faculty recorded 551 Scopus-indexed publications in 2024, up from 519 in 2023 and 531 in 2022.
In terms of collaboration, FK-KMK UGM established numerous national and international partnerships throughout 2024, totaling 200 agreements, including 18 memoranda of understanding, 112 cooperation agreements, 68 contracts, and 2 special memoranda of understanding.
“We continue to expand our partnership networks to support the advancement of medical and health sciences,” he added.
Chair of the FK-KMK UGM Senate, Professor Tri Wibawa, underscored the importance of identifying the challenges faced over the past year, stressing that transformation is not merely a goal but an ongoing process that demands cross-sector collaboration.
“With a spirit of togetherness, I believe we can overcome these challenges and move forward with stronger innovation and collaboration,” he said.
Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, congratulated FK-KMK UGM and expressed her hope that the faculty would continue to contribute to the world through its innovations and transformations in education, research, and community service.
Despite ongoing challenges, including internal and external pressures, efficiency demands, and optimization efforts, she emphasized that these can be addressed through cooperation and support.
“Once again, happy Dies Natalis to the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK UGM). May you continue to inspire us all,” she concluded.
