The Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM) has officially concluded the assessment visit for ASIIN international accreditation. During the closing ceremony, the ASIIN assessors presented their evaluations and recommendations for three study programs: the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Programs in Agricultural Engineering.
The closing event took place at the FTP UGM Operation Room on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Professor Dieter Trautz, one of the ASIIN assessors, expressed appreciation for the positive and collaborative atmosphere during the visit.
He highlighted several strengths of FTP UGM, including clearly defined program objectives, well-aligned learning outcomes, and the university’s support for research and international collaboration.
“We also spoke to the students, and they expressed satisfaction with the programs, especially in terms of career preparation,” he said.
However, Professor Trautz also pointed out areas for improvement, such as enhancing English proficiency among students and faculty and promoting international academic mobility.
The assessors further recommended strengthening faculty career development and upgrading laboratory facilities to meet future demands.
“The university needs to ensure adequate support for students, including workshops and seminars, which are essential. These are our recommendations to the faculty,” he added.
Dr. Emeline Jerez, ASIIN Project Manager, stated that a comprehensive report would be released in approximately five weeks.
Following this, the faculty will have the opportunity to respond and provide additional information regarding the assessors’ feedback.
The report will contain detailed insights into the evaluation and recommendations.
Vice-Rector for Education and Learning, Professor Wening Udasmoro, expressed her appreciation for reaching this stage and welcomed the feedback provided by the assessors.
“I will ensure that the recommendations are implemented effectively by FTP UGM. This is a path to improving our programs. Hopefully, FTP UGM will achieve good results,” she said.
Dean of FTP UGM, Professor Eni Harmayani, noted that the accreditation process began over a year ago.
She expressed hope that FTP UGM would be able to match the accomplishments of other internationally accredited programs.
“Our mission is to become an internationally recognized faculty, and we are committed to continually enhancing the teaching and learning process and other aspects to meet international standards,” she said in an interview.
Professor Harmayani added that FTP UGM has already been engaging in global collaborations in research, education, and community service with both industry and international universities.
She emphasized that achieving this accreditation would mark a significant milestone for FTP UGM.
“Of course, with the recognition of equivalence between our study programs and internationally recognized study programs,” she concluded.
