A total of 34,627 participants took part in the 2025 UGM Independent Admission Computer-Based Test (UM UGM CBT), held from July 1–5 in Yogyakarta and July 7–12 at UGM Jakarta. Of these, 26,522 participants took the test in Yogyakarta and 8,105 in Jakarta.
This year, Universitas Gadjah Mada reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an inclusive and disability-friendly campus environment by providing comprehensive support to participants with disabilities. Eight test-takers with disabilities were accommodated during the exam, consisting of three with hearing impairments, one with a mental disability, and four with physical disabilities.
UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, emphasized that the implementation of the UM UGM CBT reflects the university’s dedication to ensuring equitable access to higher education for all.
“UGM continuously strives to create an inclusive higher education system that offers space for everyone to grow, including individuals with special needs. We want to ensure that all prospective students experience a fair and humane selection process,” she said.
To facilitate the exam, UGM involved its Disability Services Unit (ULD) in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Affairs, GMC UGM, and the K3 K5L unit, with additional support from student volunteers. Each participant with a disability received assistance tailored to their needs, including physical accessibility to the testing rooms, assistive devices, and technical support throughout the exam.
The active involvement of multiple units within UGM was key to the successful implementation of this inclusive exam. This collaborative approach aligns with UGM’s mission as a people-centered university that upholds the values of independence and sustainability.
With tangible initiatives such as this, UGM continues to affirm its role as an institution committed to justice, equality, and accessibility for all members of the nation.
Ifanda (18), a participant from Probolinggo with a mental disability, expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by volunteers throughout the process. He hopes that UGM will continue enhancing its accessibility and support for future students with mental disabilities.
“Alhamdulillah, the exam went smoothly. There was a minor issue during the check-in because I couldn’t remove my earring, but overall, the service was excellent. I felt treated fairly,” he said.
Rakhmat (18), a participant with a physical disability from Riau, also found the support helpful. He noted that the testing environment was calm and non-intimidating, and he hopes such disability-friendly services become a standard in all university entrance exams.
“From the gate, the security officer kindly guided me. The directions to the test room were clear, and everyone was welcoming. The service was excellent,” he shared.
Compared to last year, the test materials for this year have been adjusted. Participants completed a series of assessments, including the General Basic Skills Test (TKDU), the Aptitude Test, and the Academic Proficiency Test (TKA), which featured two subjects aligned with each applicant’s selected program of study. The announcement of UM UGM CBT results is scheduled for July 19, 2025.
