The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fisipol UGM) is launching three graduate-level programs at the UGM Jakarta Campus, situated on Jl. Saharjo, Tebet, South Jakarta, in 2025.
The initiative is part of the faculty’s commitment to developing top-tier human resources in the field of public policy, especially for professionals currently working in relevant sectors.
The master’s programs offered include the Master of Public Administration (MPA), the Master of Public Policy and Management (MPPM), and the Master of Politics and Government (MPPG).
Dean of Fisipol UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, stated that the establishment of these graduate programs is part of the faculty’s strategic initiative and long-standing commitment to fostering excellence in government-related human resource development.
“Starting in 2025, we will open classes at the Jakarta Campus,” he said on Wednesday, Jun. 25, 2025.
Dr. Mas’udi explained that the three programs are specifically designed for professionals and executives working in government institutions, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), private companies, universities, and NGOs.
Classes are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as weekday evenings to accommodate working professionals.
He further noted that registration for the Jakarta Campus programs opened on June 10 and will remain open until July 2, 2025.
Detailed information regarding registration and the programs can be accessed through the booklet available at ugm.id/KelasJakarta.
As outlined, both the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and the Master of Public Policy and Management (MPPM) offer four main concentrations: Digital Governance, Smart City, Platform-Based Public Services, and Organizational Change in the Disruption Era.
These programs are designed to equip graduates with three key competencies: policy analyst, policy scientist, and policy advocate, and confer a Master of Public Policy degree.
“The curriculum is identical to that offered at the Yogyakarta Campus, comprising 67 credits completed over four semesters, including core, foundational, elective courses, and a final project,” he added.
The third program, Master of Politics and Government (MPP), offers primary concentrations in Indonesian Politics, Local Politics and Regional Autonomy, Political Party, Election and Parliamentary Governance, Human Rights and Democracy, and Natural Resource Governance.
Beyond the regular academic coursework, students enrolled in Fisipol UGM’s Jakarta Campus programs will also receive practical training in using research tools such as NVivo and STATA, policy evaluation methods like RCT, DiD, and QCA, and workshops on relevant topics such as policy brief writing, policy advocacy techniques, and lobbying strategies.
“With a balanced combination of offline, online, and hybrid learning formats, these programs ensure that students not only gain strong theoretical foundations but also acquire analytical and practical skills that are relevant to their organizational needs, ultimately creating real impact for society at large,” concluded Dr. Mas’udi.
