The Universitas Gadjah Mada Student Cooperative Unit (Kopma UGM) has officially launched its Kopma membership products and Official UGM Merchandise.
These two products were introduced on Wednesday (Jul. 30) at UGM Shop, located at the UGM Innovation and Creativity Hub (GIK UGM).
The launch, attended by university, faculty, and student leaders, also served as a gathering event and an introduction to UGM merchandise.
This merchandise is produced in collaboration with various partners.
Head of Kopma UGM, Alifia Safira, stated that the innovations from Kopma UGM are a pure creation of students in empowering the cooperative.
“Today’s launch is very important; we are introducing our two innovations packaged in a youth-friendly style,” Safira explained.
For the Kopma UGM Membership product, there are two categories: Gold and Silver membership.
Both offer various conveniences for transactions and shopping at Kopma UGM, including access to various Official UGM Merchandise products.
This product is offered to students and alumni to strengthen the relationship between Kopma UGM and the academic community.
One interesting initiative comes through the Kopmaborasi program, initiated by Kopma UGM, which involves students.
Acintya Zahra, a student from the UGM Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM), explained the process of designing a T-shirt that became one of the new UGM merchandise products.
The T-shirt design has a simple yet meaningful impression with the work titled “Identity, Spirit, and Uniqueness of UGM.”
In the center is an illustration of a student’s footsteps on the UGM campus, depicted through several phases, from a new student to a graduate.
This illustration conveys a strong spirit of struggle by looking back at the journey that has been undertaken.
“I want to showcase a feeling of spirit in this illustration through colors and illustration attributes. When I heard the theme ‘journey,’ an image of a relay race immediately came to mind and how the process and phases continue to accompany the journey at UGM,” Zahra explained.
In the design process itself, Zahra drew a lot of inspiration from the campus environment, such as her friends and herself. All philosophical aspects were considered so that the message, impression, and meaning could be expressed in the illustration.
Rector of UGM, Professor Ova Emilia, proudly expressed her appreciation and support for the innovations presented by Kopma UGM.
According to Professor Emilia, the role of cooperatives cannot just be confined to old methods. Instead, it can explore current potentials through collaboration.
“This transformation is a significant point for the student cooperative and UGM itself. The cooperative’s role must be forward-looking so that its benefits become even wider,” Professor Emilia stated.
Support was also conveyed by UGM Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito.
He sees the representation of the cooperative’s meaning from the development of Kopma UGM.
A student-managed cooperative should be used as a platform for creativity, learning, and improving welfare.
This involves various important aspects that can be used for student learning, such as collaboration and mutual cooperation.
The launch of Kopma UGM’s products marks UGM’s commitment to providing the best platform for student creativity and innovation.
It is believed that learning not only happens in classrooms but also through various activities and organizations that can produce creative and impactful ideas.
