Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) signed Memoranda of Understanding with three regency governments, Mukomuko, Kampar, and South Buton, on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the UGM Central Office. The agreements were signed by UGM Rector Professor Ova Emilia and the regents of each respective region, marking the continuation of earlier collaborations.
Professor Emilia expressed hope that the renewed partnerships would enable the continuation and expansion of initiatives across UGM’s diverse range of academic disciplines.
“We have 20 faculties and schools with more than 290 study programs, covering almost all fields of knowledge, ready to contribute,” she said.
According to Professor Emilia, the collaboration aligns with UGM’s mission in education, research, community service, and the preservation and development of knowledge that benefits society.
“I believe this agreement, which spans various fields, corresponds well with the development of each regency’s unique potential,” she added.
In line with Mukomuko Regency’s development priorities, the agreement will be followed up by the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, UGM (FK-KMK UGM).
Regent of Mukomuko, Choirul Huda, highlighted opportunities for collaboration with UGM in strengthening the capacity of healthcare personnel at local hospitals through the Medical Specialist Education Program (PPDS).
“I want to ensure we have highly competent specialists so that patients will not need frequent referrals,” he said.
Meanwhile, Regent of Kampar, Ahmad Yuzar, emphasized that cooperation should extend beyond human resource development, research, and science and technology advancement to include the technical implementation of programs.
The follow-up of this collaboration will be coordinated by UGM’s Center for Population and Policy Studies (PSKK UGM).
“I hope this cooperation continues and brings great benefits for both UGM and the people of Kampar Regency,” he remarked.
The scope of cooperation with South Buton Regency includes the provision of experts, science and technology packages, education, research, studies, training and development, as well as community service.
Regent of South Buton, Muhammad Adios, also expressed hope that his regency would not only serve as a location for UGM students’ Community Service Program (KKN-PPM UGM), but also become a destination for educational visits.
“Looking ahead, we hope to enhance the capacity of civil servants and carry out joint research with UGM in technical fields such as fisheries, marine, and mining,” he explained.
