
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Qur’an Recitation Team achieved remarkable success at the 18th National University Qur’an Recitation Competition (MTQMN XVIII) 2025, held at Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin, from 6 to Oct. 9. The UGM team earned third place overall with a total score of 110 points, winning eight titles, consisting of four first-place awards in the Hifdzil Qur’an 30 Juz category, one second-place award in Khaththil Qur’an Decoration (Female), one third-place award in Hifdzil Qur’an 10 Juz, and two consolation awards in the Qur’an Computer Application Design category.
The first-place titles were achieved by Ahsani Fadhli Ilahi (Vocational College) in Hifdzil Qur’an 30 Juz; Gayuh Ardian Fajri (Vocational College) in Khaththil Qur’an Decoration (Male); Mohammad Agta Annafi’ Sugiyantoro (Economics and Business) and Umar Abdul Aziz Susilo Rahmat Wibowo (Psychology) in Scientific Writing on the Qur’an (KTIQ); and Mifzal Labiq Achmad Zaffa (Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing), Mohammad Itqon Alexander (Engineering), and Muhammad Isma Maqoli Ula (Engineering) in Fahmil Qur’an.
In addition, Arina Husnayani (Mathematics and Natural Sciences) secured second place in Khaththil Qur’an Decoration (Female), while Muhammad Humam Rafi’i (Biology) won third place in Hifdzil Qur’an 10 Juz. Annisa Urohmah and Aprilia Wulandari (Vocational College) earned a first consolation title in Qur’an Computer Application Design, and Iftah Luthfi Abriyan (Psychology) received a second consolation title in Tilawah (Male).
Director of Student Affairs at UGM, Dr. Hempri Suyatna, stated that the UGM contingent’s performance in MTQMN 2025 showed significant improvement compared to the previous year.
“This achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of the participants, their faculty advisors, and the facilitators who supported them throughout the preparation and final stages of MTQMN XVIII 2025 at Lambung Mangkurat University,” said Dr. Suyatna on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025.
According to Dr. Suyatna, the UGM Qur’an Recitation Team’s third-place overall title reflects the university’s ability to excel in national-level Qur’an competitions while demonstrating UGM’s ongoing commitment to fostering students’ spiritual and moral development.
“This recognition as the third-place winner serves as an important momentum for the UGM MTQ community to continue enhancing its capacity, strengthening training programs, and aiming for higher achievements in future MTQMN events,” he added.
