Two student teams from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) achieved remarkable success at the international MAJU:ON Hackathon 2025, securing first and second place in the Student Track category. This entrepreneurship competition was organized by UD Impact with support from SK Innovation E&S of South Korea and brought together 16 selected student teams from various universities. The final event was held at The Ritz-Carlton Mega Kuningan, Jakarta, where participants presented their innovations addressing energy, environmental, and green-economy issues.
UGM’s Mycomarine (Seathera) Team, led by Gerson Lewis with members Brilliant Christalia Anjani and Felicia Jeanete Adelyn from the UGM Faculty of Agriculture (Agriculture UGM), and Viena Kurniawan from the UGM Vocational College (SV UGM), secured their victory with Seathera, an eco-friendly, fast-degrading packaging material made from mycelium.
This innovation offers a sustainable material alternative while supporting efforts to reduce plastic and microplastic pollution in waterways.
In second place, Faiz Armani Attamimy from the UGM Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UGM) received the award for Caisitant, a water purification technology based on moringa (Moringa oleifera) seeds.
This product works by safely binding and settling impurities without harmful chemicals, making it a potentially affordable solution for communities with limited access to clean water.
Attamimy shared that the competition provided him with an opportunity to broaden his understanding of developing sustainability-based business ideas.

“Participating in this competition has been a valuable experience and has opened new insights into how small innovations can create a big impact. I am grateful to all the coaches for their guidance and support throughout the process,” he said on Thursday (Nov. 13).
Director of Student Affairs at UGM, Dr. Hempri Suyatna, expressed his appreciation for both teams’ achievements and emphasized that UGM continues to strengthen its student entrepreneurship ecosystem through facilities and cross-sector collaboration.
According to Dr. Suyatna, this achievement reflects UGM students’ capacity to integrate knowledge, creativity, and social awareness into impactful innovations.
“This accomplishment demonstrates the collaborative spirit of our students as they compete at the international level and reinforces the university’s reputation as a leading innovator in Indonesia,” he explained.
Dr. Suyatna added that UGM students’ participation in the MAJU:ON Hackathon 2025 serves as evidence of the university’s commitment to nurturing a generation that is excellent, adaptive, and globally oriented in responding to future challenges.
