The Directorate of Student Affairs of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Communication Forum of UGM Student Activity Units (Forkom UKM UGM), organized a campus clean-up activity on Friday (Feb. 6) morning at the Nusantara Sports Hall courtyard and invited board members of Student Activity Units (UKM).
The activity was expected to foster awareness of the importance of maintaining the surrounding environment, particularly secretariat areas where students frequently conduct their activities.
Ghina, a board member of Forkom UKM UGM, stated that the clean-up activity was a highly positive initiative and was well-received by other UKM administrators.
“We were certainly pleased to see the Directorate of Student Affairs paying greater attention to us. Earlier this morning, we were also provided with cleaning equipment for our secretariats. This activity also revives the spirit of mutual cooperation, especially after more than a month of reduced UKM activities due to the holiday period,” said the student, who is also an archery athlete.

It was noted that, one week before the activity, UKM chairpersons and board members were gathered at the Nusantara Sports Hall for briefings on the planned clean-up.
Several areas were cleaned, including UKM secretariats across different campus zones, the Nusantara Sports Hall, Wisdom Park, and the softball field (GOR Lembah). These locations are considered vital zones, almost always occupied by UKM members conducting daily training activities.
Of the approximately 54 UKMs at UGM, around 35 participated in the activity by cleaning their respective basecamps and activity areas.
This moment coincided with the UKM regeneration process, which is typically carried out before the new semester. UKMs form an essential part of the campus ecosystem, shaping student character and providing experiential learning beyond the classroom.
Therefore, the Directorate of Student Affairs facilitates the continuity of UKM agendas, one of which is through clean-up activities that help cultivate the spirit of mutual cooperation among students.

In his remarks, Secretary of the Directorate of Student Affairs Dr. Mustofa Anshori L. emphasized the importance of students paying closer attention to the spaces that serve as their community basecamps.
“UGM students should be more aware of cleanliness. Moving forward, a secretariat management system and consistent duty schedules are needed to maintain the assets we have,” Dr. Mustofa Anshori explained.
