Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) entered the 1001+ ranks among the world’s best universities, according to The Times Higher Education (THE) 2020.
Joining the 1001+ are Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Institut Teknologi Surabaya (ITS), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), and Universitas Brawijaya (UB). While the order of Indonesian universities on indicator scores of 1001+ are ITB, ITS, UGM, IPB, UB.
Head of Quality Assurance Office UGM, Prof. Dr. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, M.B.A., said the ranking was based on recently released THE World University Ranking 2020, involving 1,395 universities around the world. Assessment was conducted based on 13 performance indicators, including teaching, research, citation, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
“UGM earns the total scores of 10,7-22,1, precisely at 19,1,” he said on Thursday (19/9).
The score for teaching of UGM is 23,4; research 11,0; international citation 15,7; synergy with industry 61,4; and international outlook 34,1. This means that UGM performance has improved than before. “There has been an increased performance by 14,2 percent here,” he mentioned.
Indra explained the increases happened in all indicators. But the highest rank of UGM lies on the teaching indicator which comes second place in Indonesia. “This university ranking showed the international world recognition of the implementation of university missions at UGM,” he said.
While on QS ranking on Graduate Employability 2019, UGM together with five Indonesian universities shares places in the range between 301-500 in the world. These universities are ITB, Binus, Undip, ITS, and UI.
