UGM Gelar Upacara HUT Proklamasi ke-70

At the courtyard of Balairung hall, Universitas Gadjah Mada hosted a celebration of the Indonesian 70th Independence Day, joined by Universitas Gadjah Mada academic community and led by Rector, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D. "The theme of the 70th anniversary is: Let’s Work, let’s appreciate it by complying with God the Almighty  so that with work, work, work, Indonesia can soon achieve its aspirations,” she said opening the event on Monday, (17/8).

Reading out the remarks of the Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region, she said that reaching 70 years, Indonesia requires many leaders-workers that can lead by working, field fighters that do not only sit behind the desk. "Every leader has to change the way they work, by mobilising activity hubs, rejuvenating creative-innovative way of thinking, taking innitiative whilst progressing,” she said.

For UGM, she said, to give interpretation to the Independence is through simple means. For example for students to only complete their studies and financial obligations in due time.

Dwikorita further asked to work in synergy for UGM road map for 2012-2017.
