UGM has recently received international attention, particularly from ASEAN countries, due to its innitiation in forming the configuration of ASEAN logo during the closing ceremony for acceptance of new students for academic year 2015-2016. The effort has been awarded by the Lembaga Prestasi Indonesia Dunia (Leprid) in the education category.
This achievement proved UGM ‘s commitment in advancing emotional abilities and social awareness among students relating to social dynamics, particularly ahead of the ASEAN Economic Community 2015. In line with the UGM’c commitment, a student team is ready to go to the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) in Kendari early October. They are from class of 2013, namely Ayu Dwi, Eria Riski, Melinda Diah, and Yasmin, planning to present the competition theme of the AEC for the event.
“We have the idea to develop an ASEAN Community Kampong to prepare for the ASEAN Economic Community,” said Eria Riski on campus on Monday (5/10) prior to their departure for Kendari.
The idea of ASEAN Community Kampong, according to Eria, would become a unifying pioneer for ASEAN to work together in facing the global challenges. Hopefully, the prosperity of ASEAN people will emerge, relying on their economic and cultural excellence.
“A strong, independent, and respected ASEAN will be established eventually. The spirit of One Mission, One Identity, One Community is expected to keep alive and we’re ready for the PIMNAS in Kendari,” Eria concluded.
