The Perisai Diri team from Universitas Gadjah Mada became the grand champion, winning the President Cup during the the XXV Silat Perisai Diri competition that has been hosted for universities by PGRI University in Semarang from 4-7 November 2015. The UGM team won five gold medals, three silver medals, and seven bronze medals.Universitas Udayana came second and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) third.

As many as 365 silat athletes from 40 Indonesian universities participated in the championship that contested 30 categories.

Lucky Prabowo, M.A., chairman of UGM Silat Perisai Diri unit said on campus on Monday (9/10) that they sent 29 selected athletes to the championship, consisting of 14 female and 15 male for all the 30 categories.

The victory in the event was not easy to earn. The team had trained for six months in advance. “We’re excited and proud that our best attempts have yielded a prideful winning to UGM,” he said.

This achievement has triggered the team to keep training well. He hoped the UGM team would be able to keep the award during the next championship in the next two years.
