Up to 250 vocational school students from a variety of regions in Indonesia joined a competition at UGM Vocational School from 28 February – 2 March organised by Mechanical Engineering Department UGM.
This competition is part of a series of the 8th Mechanical Fair organised by the association of mechanical engineering students. This time it raises the theme Human Resource Quality Development in Science and Technology to Deal with Global Competition. The Fair is opened by Dean of UGM Vocational School, Dr. Wikan Sakarinto, marked by a gong beating.
Committee chairman of Mechanical Fair, Yusuf Rahmatullah, said the event competed seven categories of competition, namely automotive, mechantronics, CNC programming, Metrology, CAD, welding, and LKTI.
“This competition is expected to increase competence and skills of vocational school students in the areas competed in this event,” he said on Tuesday (28/2) after the opening of the Mechanical Fair.
Another event in the programme is national seminar to be held on 4 March 2017 in University Club (UC) UGM, raising the theme Welding Qualification and Industrial Development of Machines in Indonesia.
Vocational School’s Head of Mechanical Engineering department, Lilik Dwi Setyana, S.T., M.T., appreciated all participants in this event. He said the competition could be the benchmark for those students to know their competence.
Like before, Lilik said, the winners of the competition would be given the chance to get admitted at UGM without a test through the Talent admission mechanism.
“The first, second, and third winners will be prioritised to get accepted through Talent mechanism at Mechanical Engineering Department of Vocational School,” he said.
