The number of patients of heart disease that came to see the doctor at the UGM Hospital has increased by four times. This was said by Heart Specialist of the Hospital, dr. Firman Fauzan Arief Lutfi, Sp.J, during the ceremony that officiates the facility for Intensive Care Installation and In-Patient Installation services at UGM Hospital on Thursday (14/9).

Firman said in April 2016 there were 112 patients of heart disease but this year there were 425 patients. “This year we will develop an integrated heart services to give cardiovascular services, diagnostic, and non-surgery intervention,” he said.

The Hospital’s Human Resource Director, dr. Arief Budiyanto, Ph.D.Sp.KK(K) said the increase started since the cooperation with the National Health Insurance Agency (BPJS) commencing in 2014. “Holders of BPJS card may have services here,” he said.

Until today, said Arief, the UGM Hospital provides up to 110 beds, plans are underway to increase to 200. “We have 9 buildings - 6 of which already up and running,” Arief added.

Arief said going forward, the Hospital would be directed towards having three services of excellence, which is neuroscience and behavioural clinic, integrated renal services, and services for children with special needs. “To do that, we are supported by 37 specialists and 29 general practitioners, added by as many as 600 staff,” he said.

The UGM Hospital’s Intensive Care Installation has been equipped with ICCU and PACU, as well as 23 beds for in-patient children. New facilities are opened that can operate 21 isolated rooms.

The opening event was opened by UGM Vice-Rector for Education, Learning and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djagal Wiseso Marseno, M.Agr., witnessed by directors of the Hospital.
